BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 23. Around 6.44 million mobile phones worth $1.34 billion were imported to Iran in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Trend reports.
As indicated in the data of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), about 6.2 million mobile phones worth approximately $1.2 billion were imported to the country for trade during 6 months.
Meanwhile, 266,544 mobile phones worth over $158 million were imported by citizens within the mentioned period.
In general, more than 14.3 million mobile phones worth approximately $3.22 billion were imported to Iran over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
Of that, about 13.8 million mobile phones worth $2.87 billion were imported for trade purposes, while 550,000 mobile phones worth $346 million were imported by citizens.
Overall, Iran imported 17.6 million tons of goods worth $30.4 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023). This is an increase of 11.6 percent in value and 6.89 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s main import partners in this period were the UAE, China, Türkiye, Germany, and India. The main imported items were corn feed, mobile phones, and soybean seeds.
