BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. Iran's raw steel output increased by 0.71 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
Data from the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) shows that Iran produced about 18.5 million tons of raw steel within 7 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, this figure stood at around 18.4 million tons.
Furthermore, 13 million tons of steel products were manufactured in Iran during seven months, representing 1.8 percent growth compared to 12.8 million tons in the same period the previous year.
At the same time, Iran produced approximately 22.1 million tons of sponge iron over 7 months. This is an increase of 5.4 percent compared to 20.9 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
