BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 4. Iran’s total non-oil imports increased by 12.3 percent in value and 4.32 percent in volume in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year.

Overall, 24.7 million tons of goods worth $42.2 billion were imported to the country within 8 months, as reflected in the latest data from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The imported products were mainly corn feed, mobile phones, soybeans, spare parts of passenger cars, and sunflower oil.

During 8 months, Iran mainly imported products worth more than $13 billion from the UAE, about $12.2 billion from China, $4.44 billion from Türkiye, $1.43 billion from Germany, and $1.24 billion from India. The mentioned five countries accounted for 75 percent of Iran’s total imports in value and 64 percent in volume.

In general, Iran prioritizes the import of essential products and limits the import of products that can be produced domestically.
