Import to Iran's Bushehr Province surges in value

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 30. Iran’s Bushehr Province in the south of the country imported 472,000 tons of goods worth $1.59 billion during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Customs Inspector of Bushehr Province Customs Office Ali Soleimani said, Trend reports.

He also said that the province's import for the reporting period increased by 12 percent in value, while did not change in volume compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year.

According to Soleimani, the imported products were various motorcycles, bicycles and related spare parts, various kinds of fabric, spare parts for passenger car, bananas, electric motors, various pumps, etc.

Soleimani added that the goods were mainly imported to Bushehr Province from the UAE, China, the Philippines, Russia, India and other countries.

The IRICA latest data shows that Iran’s overall imports stood at 28.7 million tons, worth $48.4 billion in the first nine months of the current Iranian year, representing a 12.3-percent increase in value and a 7-percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year.

In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
