BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 10. Iran’s Khuzestan Province in the south-west of the country has increased its non-oil exports by 23 percent in volume, reaching 14.9 million tons, in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports.
However, the value of the province’s non-oil exports fell by 17 percent compared with the same period last Iranian year and reached $4.14 billion, Gharabeigi said.
The official noted that the main export items were petrochemical products, agricultural and food products, electronic supplies, construction materials, etc.
He added that these products were mainly exported to China, Iraq, the UAE, Türkiye, India.
Iran’s efforts to boost its non-oil exports amid the US sanctions that limit its oil sales. Iran’s non-oil exports include all products except crude oil, mazut, and white oil.
The latest data from IRICA shows that Iran exported about 102 million tons of non-oil products worth $36.4 billion in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023). This represents a 0.68 percent drop in value but a 26.5 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
