Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province boosts non-oil export in value and volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. West Azerbaijan Province, a northwestern region of Iran, saw a significant increase in its non-oil exports in the first three quarters of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of West Azerbaijan Province Abdolhamid Sartipi said, Trend reports.

The chairman stated that the province exported 4.63 million tons of non-oil goods worth $1.79 billion in the nine-month period, which marked a 59 percent rise in value and a 35 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.

He added that the province’s non-oil exports included iron and steel products, various fruit juices, agricultural products, detergents and petroleum products, which were mainly shipped to Türkiye, Iraq, Russia, and Germany.

Iran’s efforts to boost its non-oil exports amid the US sanctions that limit its oil sales. Iran’s non-oil exports include all products except crude oil, mazut, and white oil.

The latest data from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that Iran exported about 102 million tons of non-oil products worth $36.4 billion in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023). This represents a 0.68 percent drop in value but a 26.5 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
