BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. Iran's sponge iron exports increased by 110 percent in value and 74.3 percent in volume, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
As indicated in the data from Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), about 1.3 million tons of sponge iron, valued at $319 million were exported from the country in the specified period.
In the same period as the previous Iranian year, Iran’s sponge iron exports stood at 744,000 tons worth $152 million.
It should be noted that Iran's annual production of sponge iron is over 33 million tons.
The latest data from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that Iran exported a total of 113 million tons of non-oil products valued at $40.5 billion in the first ten months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024). This represents an 11 percent drop in value but a 9.4 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
