Iran’s IMIDRO to launch news plants in coming days

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) is set to launch 10 new plants within 10 days, from February 1 to February 11, 2024, Trend reports.

The 10-day period marks the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, which is a national holiday.

The IMIDRO’s data shows that a total of 500 trillion rials (about $11.9 billion) were spent on the construction and launch of the 10 plants.

The mentioned plants will be put into use in Khuzestan, Kerman, Chahamahal and Bakhtiari, Yazd, Fars and North Khorasan provinces of Iran. As a result, 3,500 people will be provided with jobs.

In total, the plants will produce about 6.15 million tons of various kinds of products, including sponge iron, copper concentrate, steel ingots and others.

It should be noted that Iran attaches special importance to the mining sector along with the industrial sector.

Iran has a rich and diverse mining industry with approximately 12,000 mines. The country boasts more than 50 billion tons of mineral resources, ranging from copper and iron to gold and uranium.

The annual production of minerals in Iran exceeds 400 million tons on average.
