BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 11. Iran has increased its non-oil exports to its neighboring countries in both volume and value, said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.
Latifi stated that Iran exported about 60.6 million tons of non-oil products worth nearly $23.2 billion to its neighbors from March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024, which corresponds to the first 10 months of the current Iranian year. This accounted for 57.2 percent of the total value and 53.4 percent of the total volume of Iran’s non-oil exports in this period.
The main items that Iran exported to its neighboring countries were agricultural and food products, which amounted to 6.15 million tons and $3.9 million in value, Latifi said.
He also provided a breakdown of the non-oil exports by country: “Within 10 months, Iran exported non-oil products worth $7.2 billion to Iraq, $5.2 billion to the UAE, $3.5 billion to Türkiye, $1.7 to Pakistan, and $1.5 billion to Afghanistan, $916 million to Oman, $760 million to Russia, $499 million to Azerbaijan, $368 million to Turkmenistan, $168 million to Kazakhstan, $146 million to Kuwait, $90 to Qatar, $8.3 million to Bahrain, $361,000 to Saudi Arabia and $333 million to others”.
The official added that Iran’s non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries reached about 80 million tons and $49.8 billion in 10 months.
Iran’s efforts to boost its non-oil exports amid the US sanctions that limit its oil sales. Iran’s non-oil exports include all products except crude oil, mazut, and white oil.
The latest data from Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that Iran exported a total of 113 million tons of non-oil products valued at $40.5 billion in the first ten months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024). This represents an 11 percent drop in value but a 9.4 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
