The Azerbaijani Ministry of the Economic Development (MED) develops a packet to create a free economic zones and industrial cities, the Minister of the Economic Development, Heydar Babayev told Trend. A number of measures are now under discussion, including the change of the existing legislature.
A documents packet will be later presented to the appropriate state bodies. Works are now carried out to create a free zone in one of the country `s regions, however, it will not be Sumgayit, as it was previously proposed by some international experts, considering the high concentration of the industrial objects in this city. In any case, the legal status of the free zone has to be defined first and only later it will be established in other regions of the country.
