A rep from Kazakhstan was elected a Secretary General of TRACECA in a 5th meeting of an intergovernmental commission of TRACECA member-states held in Sofia. The post was taken by Rustan Janaliyev, the head of the International Relationships and Transport Policy Department of the Transport Ministry of Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing Akif Mustafayev, the TRACECA National Secretary from Azerbaijan, Akif Mustafayev.
Moreover, the chairmanship at the organization will be shifted from Bulgaria to Kazakhstan for the first half year of 2007.
The 5th meeting adopted a strategy on development of transport corridor by the end of 2015. It reflects all sides of further development of transport corridor, in particular, the development of all types is transport, including aviation, interaction with different transport corridors and organizations, work under the new neighborhood policy.
The gathering considered and adopted a budget for 2007. It also adopted an observer status in the organization.
