Azeri Ministry of Transport is preparing a package of proposals for stimulation of motor transport operation across the republic, reportedly said Musa Panahov, first deputy Transport Minister.
The proposals include stimulation of purchase of trucks meeting European standards (Euro-2, Euro-3, etc.). At the moment, low quantity of such trucks results in 10% use of cargo transportation quota for European direction. European Commission of Transport Ministers grants Azerbaijan some 600 quotas for trucks to enter Europe.
Some countries leading in trucking industry address Azeri officials to purchase quotas, though it is illegal. These quotas, Panakhov said, shall be used by Azeri carriers only, therefore it is expedient to progress them.
