Second run of container train due in late May early June

Second run of demonstration train along Poti-Baku-Aktau-Almati route is taking place late Mayor early June 2006, Trendreports quoting Akif Mustafayev, TRACECA national coordinator from Azerbaijan. At the moment the train is loaded in Kazakhstan. The train is running from Almaty to Poti, Mustafayev said.

National secretary said today China states its interest in the project, as the country is the largest exporter in Asia. Chinese side already dispatched a request for schedule of train operation.

Today Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan are examining route elongation up to Dostyk station on Chinese-Kazakh border. The universal fee is 22 cent per ton-kilometer of route.

The train project operators are Black Sea Transit LTD and Advantage International Transport and Logistics LTD.

The first time container train started its run December 24, 2005.

Experts say at the moment 3 to 4% of total Europe-Asia traffic goes via the RF due to its damping prices, which totals some 150k containers a year.
