Two more commercial banks Ganjabank and Eurobank joined the processing center Azericard. Relevant contracts have been signed with these banks, the Center told Trend. They set up business in the card market with local cards.
Taking into consideration that Ganjabank is an only regional bank, the perspectives for expansion of business in this sphere are very large. Ganja is the second biggest industrial city and the bank serves almost all industrial enterprises.
Today 30 emitter-banks active in Azerbaijan are served through Azericard, including 19 banks which are emitters of cards of the international payment system. As a result of the first quarter of 2006 the total number of active cards issue for circulation made up 1.1 million. The cards of the international payment system Visa dominates in the total and as of the first quarter of 2006 they numbered 830,000, MasterCard 250,000, local cards 20,000.
