Caspian Marine Line plans transporting some 14mt of oil products during 2006

During 2006, Azerbaijan Caspian Marine Line is planning to transport some 14mt of oil and oil products, reportedly said Aydin Bashirov, president of the company. From total amount nearly 10mt will be transported via Azerbaijan. Transportation amounts rise by 1 to 1.5mt each year, he said.

He said certain reduction in transportation amounts is observed today. However, they are suggested to rise within the following months, Bashirov said.

During the first quarter of 2006, transportations totaled 3.289mt, up 54kt over year. From total amount of cargos, 2.181mt were transported by tankers, 785kt by ferries, and 323kt by dry cargo vessels. Significant part of cargo transportation (3.034mt, up 46kt over year) was to account of vessels operating in Caspian Sea.
