In 2007 the necessity in enlarging the list of bank-agents will rise due to transition of state enterprises to salaries payment using plastic cards. First deputy chairman of National Bank Alim Guliyev told Trendfrom next year the necessity will arise in banks selection on the competition basis as two state banks are unable to perform such a big scope of operations.
The banks, Guliyev said, will not be selected this year.
Ministry of Finance already announced its plans on reviewing the service quality of involved in servicing transit accounts private-owned banks in 2006. The private banks to provide services to State Treasury have been selected in 2004-2005. This year, activity of private banks will be monitored in order to determine effectiveness of their assignment for servicing treasurys operations, but this has not yet been announced.
Starting January 1, 2005 Texnikabank was involved in servicing treasurys operations in Sumgayit, from September 1, 2005 AtaBank (Khachmaz area), Bank Standard (Lankaran area), NIKOIL (Gabala area) and Turanbank (Kedabek area). In general, treasurys accounts are serviced by IBAR and Kapitalbank. Pension payments are effected via these banks as well.
