Mission of Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is expected in Baku to review the project for water supply and drainage improvement in Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers. The bank already selected a consultant.

By preliminary estimations, the project cost is about $150-160mln. The project covers six towns (three along Kura and three in the northern part of the country), where Hitachi performed the water content analysis. It offered Azeri government to arrange manufacture of water treatment blocks to be used in the project.

However, the analysis revealed the said blocks inability to clean Kura water to have it meet international standards. In a view of this problem, Azeri government was offered to replace first three cities with other, where the water can be brought to international standards.

The companys other offer was to upgrading the said block to additionally clean the water.

The enterprise will be setup based on current engineering plants and the location is being selected at the moment. In the event of joint venture setup, both the parties will invest funds.
