WB offers grant for development of program on transport infrastructure of Baku

The World Bank (WB) offers Azerbaijan grant for development of a program on infrastructure project of Baku, Trendreports citing Musa Panahov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Transport Minister. The grant is allocated for designing of a project on unloading the city transport infrastructure.

According to Panahov, if talks on grants start shortly, by the end of the year it will be possible to conclude a grant agreement and in the beginning of next year the development of the project will start. The amount of necessary funds will be defined upon completion of development of the feasibility study. However, the bank now states that it is ready to allocate funds for the implementation of the project on unloading the transport infrastructure of Baku.

In 2000 2001 the companies Central Consultant Inc. and Nippon Koei Co.,Ltd developed researches into the improvement of city transport system of Baku under the agreement between the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation and the Azerbaijani government.
