Azeri government hopes to decrease prices of agricultural goods through special fairs
The fair for the realization of the products of producers of agricultural goods will be organized on a permanent base and will not take a one-time character, Arif Valiyev, the chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, told at the press-conference dedicated to the results of the first half-year of 2006, Trend reports.
According to Valiyev, such a decision was made at the meeting in the Cabinet of Ministers under the chairmanship of the head of presidents office Ramiz Mehdiyev. The meeting was held in connection with the raised prices in agricultural products over recent period.
Valiyev considers that the organization of fairs will allow to create a competitive situation and this will assist in decreasing the market prices in the country. The initial fairs are planned to be held in the districts of Baku.
During the meeting, one of the key reasons for the price raise was called the monopoly in the market in result of which the producers face difficulties to sell their products.
