Kazakhstan raised container transit fees

Kazakhstan is raising container transit fees by 60% as applied to demonstration container train moving along Poti-Baku-Aktau-Almati route, Trend reports with reference to the Azeri government. When launching this train, three project stakeholders, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan, decided to set uniform tariff at $22 per ton-km. Thus, now the fee for one container in Kazakhstan is $960 compared to nearly $600.

Today Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan are examining container train route projection to Dostyk station by Chinese-Kazakh border.

The first train was launched December 24, 2005. It shall promote cargo transportation from China and Europe.
