FAO doesn't exclude repeat outburst of bird flu in Caucasus

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) doesnt exclude repeat outburst of bird flu in Caucasus. The experts of FAO are particularly concerned by the situation in Caucasian region and in the south of Balkan, Trend reports quoting UNO. They belong these regions to the zones of high risk because these regions are route for migrant birds.

We dont hope to make away the virus H5N1 among carriers and wild birds, but we can localize and control the virus within bird farms. It is the best guarantee that the mutation of the virus doesnt happen in result of which it easily transfers from one person to other one, the head of veterinary service of FAO Josef Domenek told.

The state bodies of Azerbaijan (Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture) involved in preventing the bird flu didnt announced about the possibility of repeat outburst of bird flu during fall months. For the purpose to take the situation under control, recently the next monitoring started with the participation of the specialists of the State Veterinary Service, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Ministry of Health. The monitoring is held in national parks, reserves and other places where the probability of temporarily habitation of migrant birds. During the monitoring, blood analysis will be taken bird and private farms.

Within protection measures from bird flu, the veterinary observations have been strengthened on the borders. The prohibition to the import of alive birds, bird products and forages, as well as hunting, sale and use of migrant birds is continuing.
