Azeri Railway Department Increases Cargo Deliveries in Jan-Aug

In January to August 2006 the cargo deliveries by the Azerbaijan State Railway Department (ASRD) have made up 20.3m tons, or 3,973.7 tons more than 2005. The ASRD told Trend that the volume exceeded the forecasts by 23%.

Over the first 8 months of 2006 the cargo deliveries by rail amounted to 14.2 million tons, which is 2,321,000 tons more than last year. 10.5 million tons of all cargo was comprised of oil and oil products.

Annual oil and gas pumping comprised 721.5 tanks, or 104.1% against the forecast of 693 tanks.

The forecast on the productivity of locomotives was implemented by 104.5%. The average weight of the rail cargo was 2,149 tons, or 19 tons more compared to last year. The tariff target was implemented by 128.2%.

In this period the passenger transportation amounted to 3.7m and incomes comprised 14.1m AZN.
