At the end of this month or the beginning of next month, the Azerbaijani Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov will make a visit to South Korea, Trend reports quoting the Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan. During the visit, discussions are intended to be held on the bilateral co-operation in the sphere of transport, particularly delivery of buses to unload the transport infrastructure of Baku city.

According to the information of the Ministry, the buses will be acquired by the private passenger transporters. But the Ministry implements a regulation function that includes the determination of the standards of the buses that will be used for the passenger transportation in Azerbaijan.

As the representatives of the Ministry stated earlier, the producers of Germany, Korea, China and other countries acted with proposals to deliver large-capacity buses to Azerbaijan. Presently the economical assessment of these proposals is being made.

The most favorable one will be selected from the presented proposals. In the first stage, it is intended to acquire nearly 200 such buses, but 500 in the future.

It is justified through the issue that nearly 800 buses of large capacity and 2.000 buses of middle capacity are needed to ensure the routes.

These works will be carried out within the order of the Azerbaijani President On modernization of the transport system on Baku city in 2006-2007. Acquiring new buses will allow resolving a series of problems existing in the transport infrastructure of Baku.
