Motorcycle-maker KTM to built roadster?

(autoinsidernews) - Austrian motorbike-maker KTM is planning to build their first production car, and this image is the first look at the car, reports Trend.

KTM is said to be partnering with Italian Formula-sport specialist Dallara and Volkswagen, which would provide the 250 bhp four-cylinder engine, as well as the rest of the powertrain. With those numbers, KTM's ultra-lightweight, low-slung, topless roadster is expected to be a amazing performer. The KTM Roadster could be produced at KTM's headquarters in Mattighofen, or in Graz, which likely mean a tie-up with Magna Steyr.

Expected to be introduced at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, the KTM Roadster will likely be priced in the range of mid-$40K U.S. It is expected to go on sale during the summer of 2007. There's no word on U.S. availability.
