(autoinsidernews.com) - BMW said yesterday it has no interest in acquiring luxury sports car maker Aston Martin from Ford. Despite never announcing that it was a potential buyer, that hasn't stopped the speculation that BMW and Aston Martin would be a good fit, reports Trend.

We are a focused company and we want to stay a focused company. We're not interested, said BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer during an analyst call, reports Trend.

Ford bought a controlling share of Aston in 1987, and fully acquired the company in 1994. Since then, it revitalized the brand's product line, resulting in Aston Martin's first profit in 40 years. In late August, Ford announced it intended to sell the brand to raise capital.
