7th vessel for Palmali Shipping Handed In

An act on takeover of the seventh vessel of 006RSD05 project, Zarifa Aliyeva, for a shipping company Palmali Group at Volgograd Shipyard of Russia, has been signed, Trend reports. The vessel was arranged for commissioning late September 2006, Trend reports.

In accordance with the contract signed in March 2003, the Volgograd Shipyard of Russia was to build 7 dry cargo vessels for Palmali Shipping. The first vessel Heydar Aliyev was handed in customer in June 2004, the second Palmali Voyager in September 2004, the third Ilyas Efendiyev - in August 2005, the fourth Nakhchivan in October 2005, fifth Zeynalabdin Tagiyev in May 2006, sixth Mir Jalal Pashayev in August 2006.

The vessel carrying deadweight of 6,970 tons, length of 140m, width of 16.5m, height of 6m, and capacity of cargo holding 11,400 cu m, will sail under the flag of Malta. The port of registration will be Valletta. The vessel is allocated for delivery of all kinds of cargo, containers of international standard, metal, grains, forestry, and heavy cargo.

The 14-member crew led by Captain Elsavar Hajibayli will sail from the Azov Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.

The dry cargo project was developed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (Odessa city) of the Russian Marine Register of Shipment and meets wall requirements of the international conventions. The most advanced constrictive solutions have been applied on the vessel. All subsidiary premises have been minimized with respect to increase the carrying capacity of the vessel. The energy installation was selected through the method which enables fuel economy. The vessel was difficult to construct, while commercially reasonable.

In 2005 the British Royal Society of Ship Engineers of 006RSD05 project, built at the Volgograd Shipyard for Palmali company was recognized as best in this class.
