Nissan considers successor to 200SX

(autoinsidernews) - Nissan is still considering building an inexpensive sports car as a spiritual successor to the much-missed 200SX. If built the car would likely be inspired by the Foria concept car unveiled at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, according to Autocar. Nissan's new rear-wheel drive sports car would likely start in the low- to mid-$20K and would be positioned in the lineup below the 350Z.

One other possibility is building a mid-engined car in the same price range, perhaps inspired by the two-seat Urge concept that was unveiled 2005 Detroit Auto Show. If either vehicle was built, it would likely arrive in showrooms soon after 2010, reports Trend.

Currently, the Foria-based project seems to be the strongest option, following Nissan having shown the concept during a media tour at its global design studio in Atsugi.
