(autoinsidernews) - Audi has announced that it plans to begin building its A6 model in India starting in the second half of 2007. The A6 will be assembled in Aurangabad using parts made in Germany, and will be sold to Indian buyers, reports Trend.

This move gives us the opportunity to better fulfill our potential on this market, Audi board member Jochem Heizmann said in a statement. Through supplying the parts sets, our locations back in Germany will also benefit.

Assembly line workers will be trained in Germany before production starts at the SkodaAuto India Ltd. factory.

Audi plans to expand its dealer network in India from three to eight by 2008.
