Ford Mustang Shelby GT production begins in January

(autoinsidernews) - The latest Mustang offering, the Shelby GT is set for production beginning in January 2007. The Shelby GT is the highly anticipated retail version of the Shelby GT-H, which was only available in Hertz rental car fleets. The Shelby GT begins as a regular Mustang GT, then shipped to Shelby Automobiles, Inc. in Las Vegas, where they receive numerous modifications from the Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog and several Shelby additions, reports Trend.

Each interested Ford dealership will receive at least one Shelby GT, and the rest are sent to dealerships according to their 2005/2006 Mustang sales. However, every second car ordered must be equipped with an automatic, to minimize shortage of the manual transmissions. The Shelby GT features a normal Ford warranty, as well as the performance modifications from FRPP, which also receive a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty.

The vehicles are available in two colors, black with silver striping, as well as white with silver striping.
