Azerbaijan to Participate in a Sitting of Customs Chiefs Council of CIS Countries

Azerbaijan is expected to participate in the regular 44th sitting of the Customs Chiefs Council of CIS Member-States to be held in Moscow on December 21, a source in the State Customs Committee told Trend.

According to the source, Rza Hassanaliyev, Vice-Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Country will take part in the forthcoming event as well. The last sitting of the Council was held in Minsk on June, 2006.

Specialists of the State Committee Shahin Baghirov, Chief of the Custom Control Organization Department of the Committee, and Dilavar Farzaliyev, Chief of the International Relations Department of the Committee, took part in the sitting of experts of Custom Services of CIS member-states, which also was held in Moscow on December 19-20.

The Council of Chiefs of Custom Services of CIS Member-States was founded to realize the Agreement on Foundation of the Economic Union by Decision of the Council of Prime-Ministers of CIS Countries of September 24, 1993. The Council has a working apparatus which functions are fulfilled by the Custom Service headed by the Chairman of the Council with the coordination with the CIS Executive Committee. At present, the Council includes the Chiefs of the Customs Services of all the twenty member-states of CIS. One of the main priorities in the activity of the Customs Services of CIS countries is to coordinate positions of the Custom Services of CIS as members of WCO (World Customs Organization).
