A Business-Forum to be Held in Moscow for Companies of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia

A trilateral business forum is planned to be held in Moscow at the end of the first half of 2007, with the participation of companies from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia, Trend reports.

The Head of the Commercial Representation of Russia in Azerbaijan, Yuri Shedrin, stated that the event is organized by the Azerbaijani-Russian Trade and Industrial Chamber.

The key goal of the business forum is to create an opportunity for the companies to get familiarized with each other to establish relations in the future. The primary task is to attract the economy of the countries to expand commercial and economical collaboration, Shedrin said. He does not exclude the probability that the business forum will coincide with the meeting of the Azerbaijani-Russian Intergovernmental Commission.

As a result of 2006, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia amounted to $1,5 bln., an increase of 50% from previous years. According to the Head of the Entrepreneurship Development Department of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development, Samir Nuriyev, more that $1 bln arose from the import of the Russian commodities. The Russian market is the largest and prospect for Azerbaijan. Therefore, to cover the deficit in amount of $0,5 mln in the trade turnover as a result of the termination of gas delivery from Russia, we need to expand on increasing the exportation of Azerbaijani commodities and fill up the deficit at the expense commodities and services from Azerbaijan, Nuriyev said.
