Targeted Social Aid to Increase 1.5 times. in   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismaylova / Fizuli Alakbarov, the Minister for Labour and Social Security, reported on 14 April that the targeted social aid for the population of Azerbaijan would increase by 67 manats.

According to Alakbarov, initially the aid made up 44.58 manats.

In the first quarter of 2007, 57,000 low-income Azerbaijani families received the aid.

By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated to 1 July, 2006 the targeted social aid comprises 30 manats per person.

According to the data provided by the Ministry, 50,000 families (250,000 persons) will receive the aid in 2006.

The 2006 public budget allocated AZM 72mln for targeted social aid. However, the funds can be saved, as the aid will be paid for only 6 months of the year.
