Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Aghazadeh, S, Babayeva / Abbas Allahverdiyev, the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Accountancy Chamber, reported on 17 April that the significance of the chamber has increased taking into consideration the rapid economic development of the country during the last three years.

According to Allahverdiyev, the organization carried out 18 audits in 2006. The audits were carried out in Aztelekom production association of the Ministry of Communication and Informational Technologies, Kishli trucking industry station, notary's offices, State University of Foreign Languages, Ministry of Education, Khatai District municipality, State Committee on Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons and the Public TV and Radio Broadcasting Company.

He said that the attitude towards the chamber is changing compared to 2006. Though system disadvantages are being eliminated, there are still some yet. Control over budgets in municipalities is one of them.

"The intention to hold audits in some other state organizations has not been resolved yet," he said.

MPs Ali Masimli, Igbal Aghazadeh, Gular Ahmadova and Zahid Oruj criticized the report stating that the chamber does not fulfil its duties properly. "The activities of the chamber will experience some changes soon," MPs noted.
