Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. I. Khalilova/ Training considered for the technical team of the Azerbaijan Tariff Council has been launched under the financial support of USAID (United States Agency for International Development) in Baku today. The training called "Improving Tariff Rates and regulation of Public Utilities" has been organized by the National Association for Regulation of Utilities Commissions.
Peter Caderjack, the Director of the Regional Centre for Researches and Studies of Energy Policy, said that the key objective of the training is increasing knowledge of method, purpose and concepts of appraisal and determination of the tariff structure in energy sector.
International experts representing Hungary, Lithuania, and USA are expected to hold discussions about the social effect of price solutions, advantages of efficient prices, as well as projecting and planning tariffs and key economic ways and methods of price regulation in separate sectors.
The efficient and effective programme of training has been prepared in accordance with the technical requirements of the Tariff Council of the Country and the purposes of its objective to render assistance in long-term outlook regulating energy, technical aid, information exchange and development of correct management.
Training is being held within the project on development of regulation of public utilities in Azerbaijan. The mentioned courses will be held from 7-11 May. Mr Caderjack held a presentation of principles and theory of regulation of electric power the first day when the training had been launched.
The mentioned USAID programme has been underway since March 2004 for discussions with representatives of governmental bodies, which are to take a decision and put their proposals to the energy sector of the country.
