Working Group of Inter-European Organization of Tax Administrations Meets in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / The meeting of the working group on training and services for tax-payers of the Inter-European Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA) began in Baku on 16 May. Participated by twenty tax administrators from the European countries, the event will last until 18 May.

Speaking at the opening of the session, the Azerbaijani Deputy Tax Minister Natik Asimov noted the importance of skill exchange for the country on such key issues as preventing tax fraud, transfer prices, and application of VAT.

According to Mr. Asimov, Azerbaijan has again established high-level tight bonds with the IOTA countries. Besides Azerbaijan, presentations will be held by the representatives of the tax organizations of Italy, Estonia, Poland, France, Finland, and Denmark.

Uniting thirty-eight countries at its headquarters in Budapest, IOTA was established in Warsaw in 1996 during the 3rd Conference of Tax Administrations of Central and East Europe and Baltic Countries. Azerbaijan entered IOTA in 2002. Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia were the first CIS countries to join the organization.
