Baku and Warsaw Stock Exchanges Sign Memorandum on Long-Term Cooperation

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / On 15 May, a memorandum on long-term cooperation was signed between the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) and the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE), BSE informs.

This event followed a meeting between Mr. Khayal Abdinov, the BSE Board Chairman and Mr. Ludwik Sobolewski, the WSE President in Baku on 30 March 2007. Mr. Sobolewski visited Baku within the official delegation headed by Mr. Lekh Kachinsky, the President of Poland.

According to the document signed, the parties will be cooperating through information exchange to develop and integrate their stock markets.

It should be noted that the WSE is one of the largest stock exchanges in Central and Eastern Europe. As of 5 June 2007, 298 companies including fourteen foreign corporations are listed on the WSE. Since the beginning of the year, the total turnover of the WSE has exceeded USD 300bln.
