Ismayilova / Changes and supplements to the tax Code of Azerbaijan within the framework of the 2008 budget will be submitted to the Azerbaijani Parliamentary autumn session, the head of the Economic Analysis and Organization of Accounts at the Azerbaijan Tax Ministry, Zaur Fatizadeh, reported on 28 June.
According to Fatizadeh, the Ministry originally had plans to submit the changes and supplements to Parliament by the spring session.
"As the changes were not entirely discussed, the Ministry decided to submit them by the autumn session," he said.
There are only around 9,000 VAT payers in Azerbaijan. In the beginning of 2007, 500-600 VAT payers' registration was liquidated, while some 1,000 were registered for payment.
Beginning from mid-March, when the Tax Ministry began adopting electronic declarations, some 1,500 electronic declarations have been submitted and mainly by large VAT taxpayers.
