Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / Azerbaijan State Standardization, Metrology and Patent Agency has plans to lift the ban to export hazelnuts from Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the State Agency, Ramiz Hasanov, reported. According to Hasanov, that will be possible after putting into operation a laboratory where hazelnuts will be tested whether they contain autolaxin.
"The equipment necessary to check of the presence of autolaxin has already been purchased, but the exercise will begin in autumn when the hazelnuts ripen. For the present, the companies will finance the farmers, who later supply them with nuts for processing," Hasanov said. The Export of hazelnuts from Azerbaijan was suspended due to preparatory work.
The ban on the export of Azerbaijani nuts to the European countries ( Spain and others) was imposed by the State Agency. The decision was taken due to autolaxin revealed in the nuts. Examinations revealed harmful substances in hazelnuts caused through transportation and storage conditions.
