Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / Governmental representatives of Central Asia countries and international organizations are to continue discussions on the obstacles of border services and tax regimes within the region at the headquarters of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila.
These issues will be considered on 6 September at the meeting of the Committee for Co-ordination of Trade Policy within ADB's Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program, a source stated at the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan. The delegates will report on the process of implementing recommendations of the previous meetings of the Committee regarding reducing the barriers for the transit trade. The meeting with high-ranking representatives on the CAREC Program will take place on 8-9 September.
Azerbaijan will be represented at the event by the delegation headed by the Chief of Economic Development Ministry's Investment Policy Department, Asker Alakparov. The meeting is expected to focus on improving regional co-operation, transit and trade, as well as energy and other regional projects. Currently a strategic program and action plan are being devised within CAREC which will also be considered at the meeting.
As a result of the meeting, the participants will make recommendations for further discussions at the forthcoming meeting and 6th ministerial conference due on October. The event will bring together official representatives from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, UNDP, World Bank and GTZ.
The CAREC Program has focused on financing infrastructure projects and improving the region's policy environment in priority areas of transport , energy , trade policy and trade facilitation.
