Establishment of Belarusian-Azerbaijani Furniture Sale JV Postponed

Ismayilova / Signing of an agreement on establishment of Belarusian-Azerbaijani furniture marketing joint venture in Azerbaijan has been postponed for an undefined period, the Deputy Director General on Economics & Marketing of Gomeldrev OJSC, Nikolai Gevrasev, said on 23 August.

The stockholders' meeting of Gomeldrev, one of Belarus's largest furniture-maker, decided to open a furniture shop in Baku.

The representatives of Gomeldrev planned to arrive in Baku on 23 August to sign an agreement with Azerbaijani Azles Export-Import.

"A range of documents on establishment of the JV is not ready for signing yet," Gevrasev said.

Azles Export-Import company, as well as Belarus Embassy in Azerbaijan, was unavailable for immediate interview.

The furniture sold in Baku is mainly made in Italy, Romania, Turkey, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Iran. Furniture of local manufacture is sold in small quantities.
