Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / The price for foodstuffs in Azerbaijan rose by 1.3% in August and for non-foods by 0.4%. According to the State Statistics Committee, as a result, the index of prices for foodstuffs made up 100.8% in July.
The prices in the foodstuffs market increased for bread, rice, wheat flour, buckwheat and semolina, macaroni and confections, vegetable oil and butter, chicken, eggs, mineral water, fruit juices, lemonade, beer and alcohol, ice-cream, lemons, cherries, sweet cherries, oranges, carrots, and greens.
According to the State Statistics Committee, prices decreased in August for beef, mutton, sturgeon and beluga, granulated sugar, honey, bananas, apples, pears, cherry-plums, plums, apricots, watermelons, melons, cabbages, cucumbers, tomatoes, cayenne pepper, eggplants, beetroots, onions, and potatoes.
The prices for non-foods increased for cotton fabric, jeans, short-sleeve shirts, child summer suits, T-shirts and football jerseys, swimwear, paints, cement, parquet and parquet lacquer, wood materials, bricks, furniture, vacuum cleaners and laundry washers, electric tea-kettles, irons, air-conditioners, fans, household goods, cosmetics and gold ware.
The prices in non-foods market decreased for woollen cloth, tricotine, long-sleeved shirts, winter outer clothing, winter footwear, stockings, panes, suburban facilities, bicycles, TV-sets, videotape recorders, stereo systems, exercise books, toothbrushes, and women's watches.
