Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aliyev / Azerenerji JSC intends to implement a pilot project on construction of a wind power station with the capacity of 30 MW, the Vice-President of the company, Marlen Askarov, said on 22 October.
According to Askarov, the project is being studied. Several wind turbines each capable of 1 to 1.5 MW are planned to be set at the station. The cost of the project will be defined after Azerenerji selects a contractor for implementation of the project.
The issue on the electric energy sale should be settled before implementation of the project, he said. The cost of electric energy production by wind power stations several times exceeds the cost of energy production by thermoelectric power stations, which comprise 90% of Azerbaijan's total electric energy production.
"It is necessary to define who will purchase the energy," Askarov said.
