Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S. Aliyev / Azerbaijan has ceased its gas supply to Georgia for a temporary period, but is prepared to restore it at the first appeal by Tbilisi, the Government said.
At Georgia's appeal, 1.3-1.5mln cu m of natural gas will be supplied to Georgia a day.
Azerbaijani gas delivery to Georgia was carried out by Azerigas joint-stock company. Gas is supplied to Georgia at $120 per 1,000 cu m ( Georgia purchases Russian gas at $235 per 1,000). Next year the price of Azerbaijani gas going to Georgia will be increased. Azerbaijan covers 50% of Georgia's demand in natural gas.
By the end of the year the reconstruction work will be carried out via the pipeline which delivers Azerbaijani gas to Georgia. After its completion the discharge capacity of the pipeline will be increased to 3mln cu m a day (currently it does not exceed 1.5mln cu m). By the end of the next year the discharge capacity of the pipeline will be increased to 8-10mln cu m of gas a day through implementing the necessary work.
Currently, approximately 1mln cu m of Azerbaijani gas is delivered to Georgia each day from the Shah Deniz field.
