Azerbaijan’s State Chemical Company Produces Only Fifth of Products Forecasted for 2007: Prime Minister of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 March /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / In 2007 Azerkimiya State Company (SC) produced goods amounting to AZN 125.5mln, which makes up only 20.8% of the forecasted amount and is 15.3% less than 2006, said the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Artur Rasizade, while presenting reports to Parliament with regards to the results of the socio-economic development in 2007 on 14 March.
According to him, the decrease in the production was caused by a price increase for energy resources in the first quarter of 2007. Due to the price increase, activities of several enterprises of Azerkimiya were ceased. In addition, the SC faced fuel problems (virgin petrol).
Like previous years, a significant part of the products (polyethylene, isopropyl alcohol, polyester resin) in 2007 was exported in amount of $90mln. As a result of saving energy resources and strengthening of the labor technological disciplines, the State Company completed 2007 with revenues totaling AZN 8.2mln.
