SOCAR Reconstructs Double - Bloc Sea Platform

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 April / corr. Trend E. Ismayilov/ The Deep Water Jacket Plant named after Heydar Aliyev under the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to complete the reconstruction of double-bloc gas platform Umid-1, the Company said.

The development of sea platform is of great significance for SOCAR within the realization of program to increase gas production in the fields developed by SOCAR. Some six gassers are expected to be drilled from the platform.

The platform Umid-1 which is being constructed on the basis of old Umid-2 platform is the largest within the program, and its height makes up 72m. It will be located 15 km of Bulla Daniz field in depth of 58 meters.

SOCAR plans to increase the production in its fields up to 8bln cu. meters in 2008.
