Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 May / Trend corr E. Ismayilov/ State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to complete drilling in the new exploration well in the offshore Jahandar field, which is located in the north-east of Azerbaijan near the border on Georgia, by the end of this year. The depth of the well comprises 1,750m, while 3,400m are projected to be drilled, SOCAR's Complex Drilling Trust reported on 5 May.
Previously, research work had been carried out in this area and it was decided to launch the prospect drilling.
Drilling is being carried out by Gobustan exploration drilling unit of SOCAR.
Two deep production wells are being currently drilled in the Jafarli field - the current depth of the first well is 3,790m (4,050, projected) and of the second one is 2,778m (4,050m projected).
