SOCAR to Operate New Tank Farm in Offshore Field in Autumn

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 July / Trend / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reported on 1 July that it plans to put into operation a new tank farm in the Oil Rocks field between September and October.

Currently, floating crane General Aliaga Shikhlinski of the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet is transporting four new oil tanks, two of them manufactured at the Zikh plant and two at the Baku Deep Water Jacket Factory named after Heydar Aliyev.

It is planned to set up six new tanks, one of them to be used for oil separation. Volume of each tank is 2,000 tons, diameter - 15m, height - 12m.

According to SOCAR geologists, remaining oil volumes in the Oil Rocks comprise 30mln tons. In order to improve oil production in the field, SOCAR will drill 78 new wells and will construct new platforms there by 2010.
