Explosion in Georgia Damages Cisterns with Kazakh Oil

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 August /corr. Trend E.Ismaylov / Because of explosion, which occurred on Sunday near the City of Gori, 14 cisterns with the oil, transported in transit through the territory of Georgia from Kazakhstan to the Port of Batumi, damaged, a source at the regional market of oil transportation said. Generally the train consisted of 34 cisterns.

"As a result of explosion, 14 cisterns with transit crude oil damaged," the same source said.

As reported, firstly explosion occurred at the military base in Skra, which was mined by the Russian troops two days before the withdrawal. Explosion occurred there today and splinters burn into train with oil products, which was near the base.

This train was stopped after Russian servicemen exploded bridge in the village of Grakali, as a result of which the railway connection between West and East Georgia interrupted.

The regional and local sources of media reported that the cisterns belong to Azerbaijani Azpetrol Company. However, a source at Azpetrol told Trend that this issue does not deal with the company. Azertrans transport company refused to provide any comments.
