Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 September/ Trend , corr S. Aliyev/ SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) rejects suppositions that suspension of platforms in Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field was caused by so called їgryphonї, SOCAR said on 26 September.
їAll statements about so-called їgryphonї are false,ї SOCAR said.
The true reasons of gas spark are being investigated by the specialists. The platform will be put into operation after the reason of gas spark is determined, SOCAR said.
The platform in the central part of Azeri field, the oil of which is extracted by Azerbaijan International Operating Company (operated by BP) has been suspended because of gas spark from the bottom of the well.
Suspension of two platforms has caused 50% drop in oil production in Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field versus 900,000 barrels before suspension.
On 17 September, BP suspended production in Central Azeri field and evacuated personnel because of the gas spark detected near platform. Production in a platform in western part of Azeri field had been suspended for security reasons. The production in the platform installed in east part of Azeri field continues.
Azeri Light brand of oil produced from Azeri- Chiraq-Guneshli field is exported through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
