Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 November / Trend / In January to October 2008, pipelines and railway exported some 30mln tons of oil from Azerbaijan," the State Customs Committee reports.

During this period the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) exported 26.64mln tons of oil. The BP-operated BTC is used to transport the light oil, produced from the Azari-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field. Only two foreign participants in the project of the ACG development - the US companies ExxonMobil and Devon - do not deliver their oil via BTC. These companies were not the investors in the BTC construction and sell their oil via the Georgian port of Batumi transported there by railway.

According to reports of committee, in January to October, the oil export via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline comprised 1.2mln tons of oil. This route mainly transported oil of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced from the fields funded by themselves, as well as crude extracted by onshore joint ventures and operating companies with foreign capital.

The committee said that oil transportation via Baku-Supsa pipeline made up 83,700 tons of oil from May to October. The operator of the pipeline is BP. The pipeline pumped light oil from the ACG field.

In January to October, about 2mln tons of oil was transported by railways, the committee reports. Along with the light oil produced by U.S. ExxonMobil and Devon from the ACG, transit oil, transported from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan via Azerbaijan, is also delivered by railway to the Georgian Black Sea ports, the committee said.
